Speed is noticeably faster. Battery life *seems* to last longer, little things here and there. I do admit most of what I've seen have just been visual aesthetics but regardless I'm very impressed. I'll update later if any of you have any questions.

Hahaha yeah on the surface it does look the same for the most part.

But the changes warrant the measly $29 to upgrade. Too bad I can’t upgrade my PowerMac!

I agree that snow shutdown more quickly.. but I haven’t seen any difference in time to mount/unmount.. and files copy… I honestly had to go come here read your review so I can spot what have been changed lol..

I realize you’re just trolling, but I am going to answer so that no one else stumbles upon your comment and believes you.

If you purchased an Intel Mac from Apple and never had the drive upgraded or replaced, you have the GUID partition already. You don’t have to believe me, but yes, I did. As did my girlfriend. My brother didn’t, because he had a 3rd party drive that he upgraded to.

I’m not sure exactly what you mean by needing a $1,000 backup machine, which is ridiculous. If you need to format, you can purchase a hard drive that is the size or larger than your internal hard drive and do a backup of your drive contents, then restore from that backup after the formal and reinstall. You should have a backup drive anyway, since ALL hard drives are prone to failure and your data should always be backed up. I suggest using Time Machine.

Another reason to NOT use Snow Leopard is that it DOES require a Format regardless!!!

I must admit to being a PC guy — i have used them for 20 odd years and konw the foibles. The wife and Kids want a Mac. OK I buy them one for the peace. Then I keep shelling out money… Apple are brilliant sales people You have to give them that. So now I have a 6 month old Intel Mac, a copy of Snow leopard and aparently I need to spend another $1000 on a backup machine so I can upgrade to “Snow Leopard”…

Don’t believe the comment that your original machine came with a GUID partition!!!

What exactly does this “easy to use” machine give me?
