Last day of the month… er… I guess that’s no big deal, huh? Tony and I will be planning out Halloween this weekend, maybe building some props and stuff. Next weekend is supposed to be White Mountain III, but Lan and I got insurance for the cars today, and it looks like it may not happen. We’ll see after I do some math tomorrow… too tired right now. It would suck to not be able to do WMIII because of money. It always sucks when money… or, I should say, lack of money… gets in the way of enjoying life… but I guess that’s just how it goes most of the time. Hey, if everyone had all the money they needed, then the California Super Lottery would be out of business. What would they do with all that billboard space? What would they do with all that extra air-time that the commercials now fill? What would they do with all that extra counter space at 7-11?

Hmmm… must be getting late, yep, it’s past nine, time for bed. I feel a little better going to bed now that I’ve started working out with Tony. We started last Monday, and it at least allows me to feel somewhat active again… since I’ve been out of commission for 4 weeks now because of my stupid knee. I’m going to try biking again soon, but I think I might try a visit to the doctor’s office again first. The damned thing seemed to be getting better for the first 3 weeks, but for the past week it seems to just stay the same… which is not a good sign. Guess I may have to go in for an MRI after all, and I may even need, though I don’t want to think about it, surgery. I don’t want to miss my first snowboarding season… I had planned on being awesome.

Well… Lan, Josh and Jarr are off on White Mountain as I write this, hiking and having a good old time… while I sit here and think about how dumb I was to jump over that fence and screw up my knee so now I can’t go. It was 3 weeks ago and I’m still not healed. I imagine it may be quite a while before it’s fully functional again. Oh well, that’s stupidity for you.

I’m going to the gym now, though Charles is tempting me to go to REI and have some delicious grilled kielbasa and sauerkraut (sp?) sandwiches. I’ll try to do an hour on the elliptical trainer, but in order to do that I need to go buy a walkman or something. It’s just too damn boring to stay on that machine without some form of entertainment. Then I’ll do some upper body stuff and come home and shower and sit and be bored because my friends are all on White Mountain having fun and I’m sitting here being bored. Damn you stupid fence!

So today I actually went to the gym and worked out. The trip was prompted both by my desire to test out my knee, and my guilt for not having done any physical activity in over 2 weeks. How pathetic. I tried the elliptical machine for “1 mile”, and it worked out pretty well. I haven’t been able to figure out the balance on the damn thing, so it didn’t work out too well when I let go of the bars, but I guess I’ll get better with time. The thing that made me happy was that I now know that I can do some cardio training so I can get ready for WMIII. It’s unfortunate that my leg muscles are dissolving away a day at a time, but what I really needed was work on my cardio anyway, so it’s definitely a benefit.

I’m thinking about starting up Bui Studios again. I’ve missed photography, and since I haven’t done any portraits in a while, I think it’s ok to start up again. I got tired of that stuff from working at Glamour Shots and Dream Shots, but now I’m pretty sure I’m ready to get back into it. I’m not quite ready to try and go full force into real estate again, but hey, one thing at a time. Lan and I have a shoot scheduled for this Sunday… let’s see how it goes.

I guess we should work on the buistudios.com website now, maybe I’ll let Lan take care of that.

Wow… it’s been a while since I’ve written, and so damn much has happened, too. Oh well, at least I have video and pics of it. I’m currently working on the picture pages for our last few trips… The last journal entry I made was actually before White Mountain… since then we’ve had WM, WMII and a nice shooting trip last week out near Mojave, CA.

Things haven’t changed too much in the past 2 months, though. I’ve lost some weight, gotten in better shape, then jacked up my knee in a stupid moment on the tennis court so I’m now temporarily (I hope) disabled from any activities that require the use of my left leg, which pretty much means I can’t do a damn thing. I bought a 1998 Isuzu Trooper a couple weeks ago, and I’m pretty happy with that. I don’t really like the “off-white” color, and I need to do away with the tire cover and running boards, and the tires are not good on dirt at all, but besides these few fairly easily solvable setbacks it’s a damn near perfect vehicle for me. Josh has the Dodge Ram, I have the Trooper, and now Lan has a 1999 Ford Ranger. We are pretty much covered for all our biking, hiking, camping, shooting and other trips.

White Mountain was a blast, and included Josh, Lan, Jarr, Aaron and of course, myself. Hopefully I’ll go through some time and fill in a little story into the pics page I put up… along with WMII and the Mojave shooting trip. Actually I guess there isn’t all that much to say about the shooting/offroading trip except that things went well with the Trooper and shooting skeet with the FP6 was great. Here’s a little ghetto pic of the Trooper:

Unfortunately, we didn’t make it to the peak on either WM trip, save for Josh, who hit it up on the second attempt. He could have made it on the first, actually, but we held him back until it was too late for him to keep going. He apparently left us a message in the summit log that some day we are all supposed to read. Damn him for making me wonder what crap he said about us that tons of people who are in better shape than I am will get to read before me.

We have 3 trips scheduled for the next few months, including an offroading/camping trip on the Cerro Gordo Trail in the Inyo National Forest out near Keeler, CA, WMIII - Return to White Mountain, and a trip out to Nevada for some plane crash site finding. Hopefully I’ll be able to come up with the funding for these trips, the Trooper down payment, monthly payments, and insurance will ahve me wiped out for the next 2 months. Too bad I have nothing left to sell, or I’d raise the necessary money right quick.

Well, I suppose it’s time to get back to work on the rest of the site… my bio is looking pretty crappy, all it talks about is photography… it was written last year, I think. It ends with, “As time goes on, and I become more comfortable and better with street photography, I hope to bring you better and better images to view, and possibly own. For now, I am just enjoying myself in what I consider an adventure…” How pathetic and how untrue… at least, it is now… photography has taken on a new purpose for me. Before I was out there trying to capture bits of other people’s (mostly strangers) lives, and now I use it mostly to record bits of mine, and of those who are important to me. Interesting how much one can change in so little time.
