Chinese New Year Festival 2005

2:24 (14MB)

I’m not very happy with this video, but I’m posting it because I promised myself I would make the best of the disappointingly shaky, dull and incomplete footage I returned from the festival with. I obviously have a lot of practice ahead of me both in shooting and editing, but that’s half the point of this video blog.

I dug it, especially the bit with them crossing the bridge over the mud. It gave me a little window into a differerent reality, which is what it’s all about.

Thanks for the encouragement, Jonathan! You’re right, it was a different reality. The rain and muddy conditions would have stopped or at least delayed other cultural gatherings… but not these folks.

I am very curious, where is this taken? The few text that was featured looked Vietnamese, Thai or Cambodian but I’m not sure. I’m also pretty curious about your ethnicity, Vu Bui is not a common name. :)
