I have been wanting to learn to draw… well… pretty much since I was a kid. Unfortunately I’ve never had the patience for it… so I do no more than 2 or 3 drawings once every 5 or 6 years… and then drop it again.

This time I had “help”… though she wasn’t much help at all. Tracie is actually pretty darn good at drawing, and although we didn’t finish in this video we’ll post her finished product very soon. I suppose we’ll post mine, as well… but don’t expect anything good. Or decent. Or ok.

On July 4th I went over to Tracie’s to hang out and enjoy the evening with her and her friends Ribbin and Dave. I had planned on picking up fireworks on the way over… just to light and enjoy a little… nothing big, loud or fancy… just some sparklers (which yes, are completely lame now) and maybe one of those spraying sparkly brick thingies.

Unfortunately all the fireworks booths I could find had closed already. What??? It was 9pm on Independence Day… surely there was one open catering to those who had procrastinated and not bought fireworks until the last minute!

No.

So… having failed my mission, I showed up empty handed. After we climbed down from the roof (we enjoyed Disneyland’s fireworks show from the roof of the garage) I got a replacement idea. I had watched an episode of Scam School with Brian Brushwood where he shows some people how to eat fire with nothing more than cotton balls… and.. well… fire.

We (Lan, Bonny, Paul Dateh and I) all flew to Oregon for Adam Wallenta‘s wedding, which I’ll write about in a future blog… but here is a quick video of Bonny’s first run after her surgery.

It was shot with a regular iPhone 3G (not 3GS) using the jailbroken iPhone app Cycorder. Cycorder allowed for ridiculously slow shutter speeds when it was dark… which made for some really cool effects with fast motion.

Also we learned that Paul Dateh doesn’t run fast in a suit.

Unlike Lan, I’ve been bad about blogging our trip to Cancun. Lawrence and Doug (Furious Photographers) flew us to Cancun to shoot a promo video for them… and shoot video for their 2 back-to-back weddings as well.

Everything went amazingly well… the weddings and a day after session are done… and yesterday we had a day to just hang out together. We decided to rent a car and drive out to the center of the Yucatan peninsula… and we ended up at Coba ruins.

The ruins at Coba are different from most… with all the structures being spread out through the jungle and attached only by white dirt roads that weave through the trees. Unfortunately we arrived pretty late and had less than an hour to hang out there, but it was still a great time. Lawrence, Doug, Lan and Tawny got free bikerides back to the entrance afterwards… while I jogged the 2km back. It was hot and sweaty, but I got to check out a few things they didn’t.

I realize this video may give the prosecution everything they need to convict me and send me away for the rest of my life… but I hear that confession is good for the soul.

If only there was a way to change the past.

The day we shot the promo for Jessica’s Birthday Sale at Shootsac??we came came back to her place to wrap up… and decided to eat the little cake she used in some photos as well. ??The cake was good… and although small… was way more than enough for the three of us. In fact, we ate only half.

This is the story of the other half of that cake.
