Film Producer | Photographer

Chief Media Officer of Mojang

I'm an American living happily in Sweden. I moved to Stockholm in 2012 when I joined Mojang, makers of Minecraft, as Chief Operations Officer. Over time my focus inevitably shifted back to the creative side of work, and I’m now the Chief Media Officer.

I'm a producer of the upcoming Minecraft movie and the President of the Board of the Block by Block Foundation, a non-profit organization in charge of a program we founded in 2012 that uses Minecraft to enable community-driven participation in the redesign and construction of public spaces around the world.

I have been a photographer for decades, it’s been my most consistent passion in life, and for a good while was my profession. My brother, Lan, and I ran The Bui Brothers in Los Angeles as photographers, filmmakers, and educators until I ran off to Scandinavia to work in games.

I ride bikes, collect watches, play guitar and can sometimes be heard singing half-decently. I love the outdoors and going on adventures. Recently I’ve been working on wildlife photography, which combines multiple passions into one.

Fun fact: I was once interrogated by the Director of Secret Police of Kenya. It’s fun to talk about now but it wasn’t fun at the time.

A while back WIRED said I was 70th in their world's top 100, and Guardian said I was #88 in the 100 most powerful people in media.
